hyetal – beach scene

I love the feeling when a piece of music really blows you away. Personally, though, I find that it’s happening less. It’s a volume thing for sure, but it’s not the whole ‘wading through the sea of crap to find the good stuff’ argument. Rather, it’s that there’s just so much great music being made at the moment that not only do I feel overwhelmed by it all, but in a way also a bit desensitised. Like the gap from the good to the amazing has really grown and now expectations are much higher. Now I’m so used to hearing good music that when something amazing comes along, it feels extra special.

Enough gushing? I think so. The guy’s called Hyetal, and his debut album Broadcast that’s just been released is described by his label as a mix of “John Carpenter, Boards of Canada, early ’90s computer games and Prince with the sound system dynamics of cutting edge UK bass music.” Sells itself really.

Not sure what the deal is with the video clip, but here is the amazing “Beach Scene”, taken from his debut.
