cfcf – the river

Montreal’s Michael Silver (CFCF) is responsible for one of my favourite tracks of last year, “Raining Patterns”; a slo-mo shower of neon synth goodness from his debut album Continent (it’s also track #2 on We Don’t Need Another Mix).

Returning this month with The River, an EP of six original cuts and three remixes, the self-confessed film buff has moved from the pop sheen of Continent and into darker sonic territory, exhibiting an array of lucid balaerica and cosmic post-rock inspired by Werner Herzog’s 1982 film Fitzcarraldo. In short, it’s a pretty special EP.
